Buchanan – Shirley L. (Nelson) Hein, 82, passed away at 12:45pm on Saturday, June 30, 2018 in Southfield Village.

Shirley was born on July 2, 1935, in Buchanan, MI to the late Frank G. and Pearl J. (Dills) Nelson. Shirley was also preceded in death by a daughter Julie Hein; sister, Anita Yurek; and brother, Ray Nelson.

On May 29, 1958 in Galien, MI, Shirley married Dale. J. Hein. He survives along with children Gwendolyn (Kirk) Hocker, and Jeffrey (Catrina) Hein; grandchildren, David (Katie) Hocker, Jodi (Jon) Byrnes, Kelly (David) Byrnes, Taylor Hein, Evan Hein, Julie Hein; great-grandchildren, Logan Wyatt, Austin, Travis, Sadie, Levi, Ryan, Adeline and Caroline.

Known as a devoted wife and mother, she lived a selfless, giving life. Shirley was always willing to help out anyone she could. And through that, she touched the lives of many, many people.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1pm on Thursday, July 5, 2018 in Community Baptist Church, 5715 Miami Rd, South Bend, IN 46614, where family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 3pm on Thursday, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens, Niles, MI. HALBRITTER WICKENS FUNERAL HOME, 615 E. Main St. Niles, MI is assisting the family with arrangements.
