Miss Virginia Mae Fisher, age 84 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at West Woods of Niles following an extended illness.
She was born on June 23, 1932 in Buchanan, Michigan to Leo A. and Wilma Rose (Vogelsang) Fisher. She was graduated from Niles High School, and lived in the Fisher family home on South Lincoln Avenue all of her life. She was employed at the former Krajci Drug Store in Niles, and in the former South Bend office of Associates Finance, and was retired from the offices of Saint Mary College in Notre Dame, Indiana.
Ginny was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles, and volunteered with the Girl Scouts of America, and the local Relay for Life of the American Cancer Society. She was a gifted artist in various arts and crafts media, providing many items to the sales at Saint Mary parish.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her siblings, Robert Fisher, Paul Fisher, Dorothy Hicks, Mary Magin, and Lonnie Fisher.
Surviving family includes two sisters-in-law, Merrill (Mrs. Robert) Fisher of Grand Haven, Michigan and Eleanor (Mrs. Lonnie) Fisher of Niles; many nieces and nephews; and a great circle of wonderful friends.
The Memorial Mass for Virginia Fisher will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Saint Mary Catholic Church by the Rev. Christian Johnston of the parish. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
Contributions in memory of Ginny may be made to Saint Mary Catholic Church, 219 South State Street, Niles, Michigan 49120. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
