Travis Canfield

Travis Canfield was born in Niles, Michigan June 29, 1951 the only child of Ervin “Bud” and Gladys (Davidson) Canfield. Travis departed this life on his sailboat at the Port of Salerno, Florida where he had lived for the past three years.

He graduated from Buchanan High School in 1969, and from the University of Mississippi, Oxford, Mississippi with a degree in microbiology in 1971. There he met the love of his life
Karol Winterrowd. They were married August 16, 1975 at St Peter’s Catholic Church in Memphis, Tennessee. Karol departed this life on February 10, 2008. They were married for 33 years. Travis leaves to
mourn his passing three children Lindsay Ann (Brian) McIntire of Denver, Colorado, Meredith Lea (Jeffery) Hypes of Bear, Delaware, Tyler Canfield of Downingtown, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Owen Brian and Finnian David McIntire; and his mother Gladys Canfield-Keith of Niles,
Michigan and aunts and uncles: Joyce and Melvin Dreitzler of Niles,
Lonnie & Helen Davidson of Plant City, Florida, Charles and Pat Davidson of Humboldt, Tennessee, Dick & MaryAnn Davidson of San Juan Capistrano, California, Linda & Ernie Herring of Zephyrhills, Florida, Shirley and
Don Snyder of Dallas, Pennsylvania, Betty Lillie of Winter Haven, Florida
and several cousins and many dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father Ervin Dale Canfield, and by his grandparents Donald and Gladys Canfield, and Clyde and Mae Davidson.

Travis was born in Niles, Michigan, grew up in Buchanan,
Michigan. As a 6 year old he was the "bat boy" of the Buchanan
Merchants softball team. His father "Bud" was the pitcher taking the team to win the Softball Crown in 1957. Travis went on to be a pitcher
himself for the White Sox Little League Team, and winning the city
Championship during his "pitching career". Travis attained Eagle Scout
Rank at age 16. He attended the Twelfth Boy Scout World Jamboree in Farragut, Idaho in 1967. He was named a Michigan National Merit
Scholarship Winner in 1969. We loved him dearly and mourn his passing
deeply.

Services for Travis Canfield will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2012 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Phil Carnuccio officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
