Terrence William Goodman, age 59 of Burbank, California, formerly of Niles, Michigan died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Glendale Hospital, Burbank, California following an extended illness. He was born May 15, 1953 in Niles to Clarence & Ione (Frizzell) Goodman.
In 7th grade, Terrence won an award for the design of Plym Park in Niles. In 1971, Terrence graduated from Niles High School with honors and then received his Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design and Clothing Construction from Michigan State University in 1972. He went on to achieve an Associates Degree in Fashion and Costume Design from The National School of Dress Design in 1974 and another Associates Degree in Fashion Design from The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles in 1976.
Terrence has been nominated twice for the Oscar award and has won awards for Best Costume Design. He had clothes the stars for over 30 years, working with Florence Henderson, Anita Baker, Betty White, and Johnny Mathis. He was an excellent designer, his hands were magical.
Terrence is survived by sisters; Diane (Herbert) McGraw of Niles, Denise Bogar of Huntington Beach, California and Donna (Keith) Berndt of Lansing, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Mary Jo Goodman and brother Larry Goodman.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Halbritter Funeral Home, Niles with Rev. Randy Pearman of Bethel Baptist Church, Niles officiating. Interment will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery.
The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Donations in memory of Terrence may be made to The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, Los Angeles.
