Biography

Sheldon Edward “Shell” Bradley, age 50 years of Niles, Michigan, formerly of Chicago, Illinois died on Monday, August 12, 2013 at his residence of natural causes.

Sheldon was born August 24, 1962 in Chicago, IL to Edward Bradley and Barbara (Hall) Rollins. Shell was graduated from Sullivan High School in 1980, where he was on the football team and played the saxophone. He went on to serve in the United States Navy in 1981. He was deeply connected to the Dowagiac area by his grandparents, the late Robert and Marjorie Hayden. Shell was an intellectual man; he enjoyed learning about chemistry and studied accounting at Tougaloo College in Mississippi. He drove a forklift while employed at the Jewel Osco grocery store.

Shell enjoyed music and liked to dance. He was an avid reader, he played chess and was a fan of horror movies. He was a spiritual man, clever with his words, and loved to cook.

Shell was a loving, “gentle giant” with a sensitive soul. He will be remembered for his loyalty and strong bonds he made with family and friends, and for his overprotective, nurturing nature.

Shell is survived by his Daughter, Amanda Bradley of Three Rivers, MI, Father Edward Bradley, Siblings, Sean Bradley, Kahtrael Bradley and Crandon Weatherly, all of Chicago, IL.

He was preceded in death by his Mother Barbara Rollins and, Sister Sonia Bradley.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00p.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Ogden Park (67th Street & Loomis Street, Chicago, Illinois 60620).

Contributions in memory of Shell may be made to the Breast Cancer Awareness organization of choice.

Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles, Michigan.
