Sharon Lee McLaughlin, age 73 years of Dowagiac, Michigan died at 9:11 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at West Woods of Niles following an extended illness.

She was born on February 8, 1941 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Russell and Arlene (Wetzel) Myers. She was graduated from the Berrien Springs (Michigan) High School, and has lived in Dowagiac most of her life. She was employed for more than forty years at the Dowagiac Commercial Press plant.

Sharon enjoyed cooking – especially Christmas treats, and following sports, including the Detroit Tigers and the events of her children and grandchildren. Her family was her greatest interest.

She was married for many years to Lowell McLaughlin who died in 2002.

Surviving family includes her sons, Larry (& Kathy) McLaughlin of Niles and Gary McLaughlin of Dowagiac; grandchildren Mindi McLaughlin Evan McLaughlin, and Matthew McLaughlin; Sharon’s siblings, Judy (& Larry) Greenwood, Wayne (& Kathy) Myers, and Jack (& Beverly) Myers all of Niles, Harold (& Leuellyn) Myers of Granger, Indiana, Janet Cheney of Niles, and Linda (& Dwight) Roberts of Galien, Michigan; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend.

The funeral service for Sharon McLaughlin will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Carl W. Bassett of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Sharon may be made to the West Woods Patient Activity Fund; or Hospice at Home.
