Sharon Johnson

Sharon Rose Johnson, age 51 years of Niles, Michigan died at 7:49 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan.

She was born on September 13, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana to Douglas and Mary (Thompson) Kelly. She was graduated from Niles High School, and has lived here all of her life. She was employed for many years at Jason Industries in Elkhart, Indiana and more recently employed at Sampson Fiberglass in Mishawaka, Indiana.

Sharon enjoyed fishing, playing cards and bingo, and visiting the casinos, but her greatest joy was spending time with her family, including her husband and children, and especially the grandchildren.

On October 31, 1995 she married Asa Alvin Johnson, Jr., who had been her companion for sixteen years. They celebrated last year the thirty-seventh anniversary of their relationship.

Surviving family includes her husband, Asa and their children, Asa A. (& Kelli Matthews) Johnson III of Niles, Samantha Kay Johnson of Niles and Angela Janine (& Cheryl Mastermen) Johnson of Niles; grandchildren Mable DeWitt Johnson, Asa A. Johnson IV, Joshua DeWitt, Jr., and Ayden Johnson; and Sharon’s father, Douglas Kelly of Niles and brothers, James Kelly and Michael Kelly, both of Niles.

Services for Sharon Johnson will be at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles with Pastor Bradley Heiple of Hope Community Church officiating.
