Sarah Mcgraw

March 26, 1990 — March 24, 2022

Sarah Elizabeth McGraw of Niles, Michigan, mother, daughter, sister, animal lover, outdoors girl, and so, so funny sadly lost her battle against drug addiction on Thursday, March 24, 2022, just two-days short of her 32nd birthday.

She was born on March 26, 1990 in Niles to Herbert and Diane (Churchich) McGraw, and attended Niles Community Schools.  As a young child she began accompanying her father to work as an arborist, trimming and removing trees, although she was mostly the ground crew, dragging limbs to the truck, and raking and cleaning-up.  Later, she was employed as a caregiver, serving mostly on private duty in patients’ own homes, offering the great gift of allowing those patients to remain in their home.

Sarah attended the Faith Victory Fellowship in Buchanan, Michigan.  She often brought home stray animals, wishing to keep each of them.  She loved the water, enjoying swimming and playing in the water, but also boating and fishing, often at Little Smith Lake.  Throughout her life and all of her activities she brought smiles and laughter, being funny and fun, and – even as a child -always had an eccentric view of life which was often amusing, sometimes unnerving, and always shared.

Those with whom she shared this life include her sons, Wisdom Jermaine Lyons II and Harlem Durrell Lyons, and step-son, Isaiah Moore; Sarah’s parents, Diane and Herb McGraw of Niles; Sarah’s siblings, Erika (& Joe) Mitchell of Niles, Bruce (& Kimberly) Word of Milan, Ohio, and Kassey McGraw, Shane McGraw, Herbert McGraw II, and Willie (& Andrea) McGraw, all of Niles; many nieces and nephews,  including Jessica Small; aunts and uncles, Donna (& Keith) Berndt of Lansing, Michigan, Denise Boger of Phoenix, Arizona, George (& June) McGraw of Niles, and Bill McGraw of Niles; many cousins,  and Sarah’s sons’ father, Wisdom Lyons of Niles.

The celebration of the life of Sarah McGraw will be at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1, 2022 at the Faith Victory Fellowship, 13369 Main Street in Buchanan with Senior Pastor David Mitchell of the church officiating.  The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Sarah loved life and loved people.  She fought against demons find the time and clarity of mind to care for those around her, and to share her unpredictable views of life, spreading fun and laughter.  Above all, she answered the command to love God and love people.
