Ronald G. Fazi, 62 of Niles, passed away with his family at his side on Sunday, April 24 in Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.
Ron was born on March 6, 1960 in Niles.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, Ronald J. Fazi.
On July 11, 1998 he married the former April Jasper who survives.
Ron is survived by his wife of 23 years April Fazi and children; Ronald J. (Adrienne) Fazi of Noblesville, IN., Joseph (Trisha) Fazi of Buchanan, MI, Hunter Fazi and Collin Fazi of Niles, Grandchildren; Dyson (Meghan) Phillips, Gavin Fazi, Wyatt Fazi, Rocco Ramser, Natalia Ramser, Sage Fazi and Amelia Fazi. He is also survived by his parents-in-laws, Gary and Kathy Luster, also of Niles, his parents, Michael and Erma Richmond, brothers, Don Fazi of Niles, Mike Richmond, Jr. of Niles and David Richmond of Niles and his sister, Brenda (Fred) Lovett of South Bend as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ron honorably served his country and was a veteran of the US Army, proudly serving as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne.
Ron and April owned Gina’s Pizza for 20 years. Ron had been a Volunteer Firefighter for the Howard Township Fire Department for many years. He had held several offices there all the way up to being the Chief of the department. Ron then had become the Howard Township Supervisor.
Ron was an amazing cook and he had several recipes that were closely guarded and not written down. In his spare time, Ron loved being outdoors, he would go hunting or fishing whenever possible. A caring man, Ron always had an encouraging word for people, especially children.
Ron cherished his family and the time he had with them. He will be forever missed but will continue to live on in our hearts and we will treasure our memories of him.
The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Brett Brinker, his staff, and Sarah, Andy, and the entire Butterworth 5 South team who cared for Ron as if he were family.
A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 1:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. in Niles. The Family will receive visitors from 11:00 am until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens with military honors. .
