Ronald E. Bell, age 68 years of Beebe Road in Niles, Michigan died at 12:26 p.m. on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Lakeland Community Hospital in Niles, unexpectedly but of natural causes.
He was born on July 26, 1944 in New Castle, Indiana to Isaac and Mary (Sampley) Bell. He was graduated from high school in New Castle, and has lived in Niles most of his life. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam Era, serving in the United States Army Ranger unit. He was employed for many years at Camden Appliance as a store manager.
Ron was a charter member of the Harley Owners Group (HOG), and a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). He enjoyed woodworking, including building some unique furniture pieces.
On February 17, 2001 in Coloma, Michigan he married Martha Anton, who survives. Also surviving are his daughter, Lisa (& Jim) Klanke of Lee’s Summit, Missouri and granddaughters Hannah and Hallie; Ron’s mother, Mary Bell of New Castle; and his siblings, Barry Bell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Linda (& Bob) Burris of New Castle, Becky (& Ed) McConnell of Cambridge City, Indiana, and Kathy Grant of New Castle; and several nieces and nephews.
Full Military Honors for Ronald E. Bell will be offered at Noon on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles by American Legion Post #51 of Buchanan, Michigan. The family will receive relatives and friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
