Robert (Bob) Joseph Klose passed away Sunday, October 30th, at his home in Tucson, Arizona. He had just celebrated his 88th birthday, and his 67th wedding anniversary with his wife Lorraine (Kubiak).
In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by his six children; four daughters, Michelle Klose of Tucson, Jill (Rich) McKenzie of Chelsea, MI, Lisa Jackson of Tucson, and Jennifer (Jeff Aykroyd) of Tucson; two sons, Robby and Eddie Klose of Tucson; eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Monica Klose, and his brother Edward Klose of Elkhart, IN.
Bob was born on October 28th, 1928 in South Bend, IN and graduated from Niles High School in 1948. He married his high school sweetheart Lorraine Kubiak in 1949. After marriage, Bob and his brother Ed started a commercial contracting business called Klose Brothers Construction in Niles, MI where he and his brother designed and built commercial buildings in the greater Michiana area. Bob was known as an innovator, a problem solver, and routinely made the impossible come true.
Bob was also an avid fisherman and hunter. His passion was his creation of The Fisherman’s Road Marina in Saint Joseph, Michigan where he spent countless weekends maintaining the marina, fishing, and making life-long friends. He also loved to pheasant hunt with his brother, nephew, and long-time friends.
Finally, Bob was a devout Catholic and lifelong member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles, MI. He stood strong for decades in the front row of that church, and is now standing strong in the presence of the Lord.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Klose will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles by the Rev. Christian Johnston of the parish. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Contributions in memory of Robert may be made to Saint Mary Catholic Church, 219 South State Street, Niles, Michigan 49120. Arrangements in Niles were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home
