Robert Grathwohl



Robert L. Grathwohl, age 70 years, died on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at his home following an extended illness.

He was born on August 3, 1946 in Niles, Michigan to Eugene J. and Magdalene Anna (Leonard) Grathwohl. He was graduated from Niles High School in 1964, and was a lifetime area resident. He was a Master Plumber for Gene Grathwohl Plumbing and Heating, and was also a Mechanical Contractor.

Robert was a member of Saint Mary Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus Father Allouez Chapter 708, the Moose Lodge #978, the Niles Elks Lodge #1322, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles #2095, all of Niles, and also the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union.

Surviving family includes his son, Shane Grathwohl of Boynton Beach, Florida, and his siblings Jean Ann Harbaugh of Niles, Gayle Anderson of Dale City, Virginia, Eugene Joseph “Mike” Grathwohl of Boca Raton, Florida, Stephen Grathwohl of Wilton, Connecticut, and Sarah Marie Alvarado, of Boca Raton. He was previously married to Sharren Grathwohl.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Robert Grathwohl will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Saint Mary Catholic Church, in Niles by the Rev. Christian Johnston of the parish. The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Committal will take place privately at a later date.
