Richard Wozniak

Charles Richard “Dick” Wozniak, age 90 years of Niles, Michigan died at 12:02 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Woodland Terrace in Niles following an extended illness.
He was born on May 22, 1925 in Niles to Edward J. and Maude R. (Iden) Wozniak. He attended Saint Mary Catholic School in Niles, and was graduated from Niles High School in 1943. Dick was a World War II Veteran, and attended Dartmouth College while serving in the United States Navy. He earned his pilot’s license at the young age of 14 and loved to fly. Dick was a partner at R&M Manufacturing in Niles for twenty-four years, and employed there for over forty-two years.
Dick was a lifelong member of Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. He was proud to be a blood donor.
On August 24, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois, he married the former Mildred L. Walters with whom he celebrated the remarkable Fifty-first anniversary of their wedding, just prior to her death on August 25, 1996. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael G. Wozniak; his brothers, Willis J. Wozniak, Fay L. Wozniak, and Joseph E. Wozniak; and his sister Ellen Gondeck and special companion, Ruth Watson.
Surviving family includes his sons Brian K. (& Debra) Wozniak and Neal. E. (& Brenda) Wozniak, both of Niles, and Mark R. (& Deborah) Wozniak of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren, Selina, Missy, Kristen, Brandon, Bryce, Ryan, Shawn, Andrew, Taylor, Josh, Jason, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Laney, Gabe, Amelia, Payton, Ava, and Reese, (and one on the way); and the family of Ruth Watson.
The Memorial Mass for Dick Wozniak will be at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Saint Mary Catholic Church in Niles. Committal Rites will follow at Calvary Cemetery and will conclude with full military honors.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 6-8:00p.m. on Friday at the Halbritter Funeral Home, with Recitation of The Rosary at 7:30p.m.
