Richard J Messenger

Richard J. Messenger, 51 of Niles, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.

Richard was born in Niles, Michigan on February 13, 1972 to the late Richard D. and Irene E. Messenger.

Richard graduated from Niles High School.  He was a member of First Baptist Church in Niles. Richard enjoyed gaming.  He and his friends would often gather to play all manner of tabletop games. While in Boy Scouts, Richard not only became an Eagle Scout but he also was inducted to the Order of the Arrow.  He grew up believing that if you can, you help anyone you can. He demonstrated this by a mission trip to Haiti.  Richard requested that even in his passing that he help.  His legacy will continue as he helps others have a better life through organ and tissue donation.

Those left behind to cherish Richard’s memory are his brother, Keith (Valarie) Messenger of Pine City, MN, nieces, Naomi (Andy) Swisher of Sachse, TX, Elizabeth Stevenson of Glendora, CA and nephew Eric Messenger of St. Anthony, MN. and a very close group of friends.

A memorial service for Richard will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at 6:00 pm at First Baptist Church 1446 E. Main St in Niles.
