Richard Lee “Dick” Hostetler, age 66 years of Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at his home.
He was born on March 2, 1950 in North Liberty, Indiana to Lionel and Fern Elizabeth (Talbot) Hostetler. He attended North Liberty schools, and has lived in Southwest Michigan since 1995. He was formerly employed at Jordan Ford in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Dick liked to tinker in his pole barn and yard, and was an avid collector of vintage memorabilia. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, and when younger also enjoyed hunting. He had travelled throughout the United States, the Caribbean islands, and Europe.
On October 12, 2011 in Niles he married the former Karen Bryant who survives. Also surviving are his children, Brian (& Ji-Ae) Hostetler of Shoreline, Washington, Travis Hostetler of Osceola, Indiana, James (& Andrea) Hostetler of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, and Angela (& Jason) Smith of Mishawaka, Indiana; grandchildren Audrey Smith, Jared Smith, Jacob Smith, Ashlee Hostetler, Chiara Hostetler, Isabelle Hostetler, Siri Hostetler, and Ian Hostetler; Dick’s sister-in-law, Wanda (Mrs. Billy) Hostetler of Edwardsburg, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Richard Hostetler will receive relatives and friends from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles. Committal will be private, later at the North Liberty (Indiana) Cemetery.
