Ray Hand

Ray Bennett Hand, 96 passed away at the home of his grandson Robert Hand on Friday, November 18, 2016.

Ray was born on December 2, 1919 to Lewis and Cora Hand, who preceded him in death. On May 10, 1940 he married Toisa who passed away on May21, 2010.

He is survived by his son Jeff (Jeanne) Hand of Sumnerville, Mi; grandson Robert (Roxanna) Hand of Niles; granddaughter Milisa Hand of Avon, OH; great grandchildren, Bostin Hand, Dade Walls, Gambit Hand, and Alaric Hand and a great great grandson Grayson Hand.

Ray is preceded by his parents, his wife Toisa and a brother Roy and sister Mildred.

Ray had honorably served in the Army during WWII serving in both the European and Pacific Theater. He retired as a plant manager for Dowagiac Steel Tank. Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing, however his passion was golfing. He often played at the Hampshire Country Club. In his younger years he was a fantastic baseball player and he enjoyed watching the Cubs.

Visitation for Ray will be Monday, November 21, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles, Mi.

Funeral service will be Tuesday November 22 at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sumnerville Cemetery.
