Priscilla A. Coffinger, age 71 years of Edwardsburg, Michigan died peacefully at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 with her family gathered around at the Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, Michigan following an extended illness. Her family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by the staff of Caring Circle Hospice at Home.
She was born on March 21, 1947 in Niles, Michigan to Adam and Gladys M. (Smith) Robertson, and was graduated from Niles High School. As a young woman, she was employed for several years at the former General Cable plant in Niles. Later, she owned and operated a ceramics studio in her home. She lived in Niles most of her life before moving to Edwardsburg in 2006.
Priscilla enjoyed sewing, going to the beach, viewing lighthouses, and collecting lighthouse art and memorabilia. Her ceramics studio grew from her interest in casting ceramic art, and her skill and artistry in painting the details to finish each piece. One special piece was the grand champion at the Cass County Fair, and competed at the Michigan State Fair. Her greatest interest was caring for her family, and especially the grandchildren.
On December 20, 1969 at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Niles she married Jack L. Coffinger with whom she celebrated last year the forty-eighth anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Jack and their children, Katherine Swanson of Edwardsburg, Martha (Michael/Bryan) Steinhoff of South Bend, Indiana, and Benjamin (Angel) Coffinger of Niles; grandchildren, Nicholis Swanson, Rebecca Coffinger, Robert Steinhoff II, Joshua and Curtis Steinhoff, Samantha Adams, Elizabeth and Desaray Lee, Abbie, Megan, Zoie, Miley and Skyler Coffinger, Paige Lewark, Ashley Billet, and Scott Miller; great-grandchildren Anastasia and Maison Miller, Crayton and Maison Adams, and Priscilla’s sister, Susanne Gibson of Kalamazoo, Michigan and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Bradley Robertson.
The family of Priscilla Coffinger will gather privately to share memories and honor her life.
