Phyllis Ann Fox, age 76 years of Berrien Springs, Michigan died at 5:43 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on July 5, 1939 in Camden-on-Gauley, West Virginia to Arden Andrew and Pearlie Ellen (Gibson) Phares. She was graduated from Nuttall High School in Lookout, West Virginia, and has lived in Berrien Springs since 1965. She was first employed at the former Berrien Springs plant of Essex Wire Company, and then began a twenty-six year career driving school busses for the Berrien Springs Public Schools. In retirement she continued to provide student transportation for Careful Transit, Inc.
Phyllis was a member of the More Abundant Life Tabernacle. She enjoyed crochet dolls, and collected clocks of all styles, and lighthouse keepsakes. She also enjoyed pet birds.
On February 23, 1958 in Lookout she married Walter Lee Fox with whom she celebrated the Fifty-third anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on April 10, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly K. Tyler on October 2, 2010, and infant son, Tracy Lee Fox on March 7, 1959; a granddaughter, Chrisitna Ann Williams on August 13, 2013; and Phyllis siblings, Arden James Jim Phares, John Wesley Phares, Anna Mae Vaine, and Wesley Veon Phares who died in childhood.
Surviving family includes a son, Glenn Allen (& Barbara) Fox and a daughter, Janice Leigh Fox, both of Berrien Springs; grandchildren Kenny Tyler, Rex Tyler, Heather Tyler, Ricky Williams, Jr., Tracy Lee Gallegos, April Lugo, and Stephanie McLaughlin; great-grandchildren, Sage, Levi, Caleb, Randy, Vallan, Jasmine, Asia, Duane, and Drake; Phyllis sister, Louella Frances Babbs of Cassopolis, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
The family of Phyllis Ann Fox will gather privately to share memories and honor her life. Interment will be at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs. Contributions in memory of Phyllis may be made to the More Abundant Life Tabernacle.
