Paula Jean Marston, age 69 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 4:18 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2016 with her family gathered around at her home following an extended illness.
She was born on May 2, 1947 in South Bend, Indiana to Douglas J. and Carmella T. (DeStefano) Lamb. She was graduated with Brandywine High School’s first four year class, and has lived in Niles all of her life. She was employed as a purchasing agent at National-Standard for 24 years.
Paula was a member of the Niles First Church of God. She has always volunteered, especially when her daughters were young and she helped as a Room Mother, with Girl Scouts, and helped establish the Girls’ Softball program at the origin of what is now South Fireman’s Park. She was also a member of the Niles Service League, volunteered with her class reunion committee, and at the Niles Senior Center. Her greatest joy was her family – husband, daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
On June 22, 1968 at the First Presbyterian Church in Niles she married James E. Marston with whom she celebrated last year the forty-seventh anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Jim Marston and their daughters, Tina (& Timothy) Bunch of Niles and Toni (& Randy Soper) Harbin of Edwardsburg, Michigan; grandchildren Courtney (& Phillip) Strukel, Dylan Brattain, Sierra (& Eric Simpson) Brattain, Cassie (& Wayne) Beaird, Krystal Bunch, Kori Bunch, Harli Harbin, Mariska Harbin, and Kaden Soper; great-grandchildren, Hunter Simpson and Mercedes Beaird; and Paula’s sisters, Patricia (& Tom) Gregor and Debra Pflug, both of Niles, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas J. Lamb and Carmella T. Dalenberg.
The funeral service for Paula Marston will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Robert E. Jackson of the Niles First Church of God officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Paula may be made to the Brandywine Community Schools Education Foundation.
