Patricia Ann “Pat” Rupp, age 84 years, former long-time resident of Miami Road in Niles, Michigan died at 4:54 a.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana following an extended illness.
She was born on September 17, 1928 in Flint, Michigan to Wayne E. and Madeline (Joseph) Tolford. She was graduated from DeVilbiss High School in Toledo, Ohio, and attended Toledo University where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. In 1962 she moved from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Niles, and then in 1987 moved to Granger, Indiana.
Pat was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Niles. She was also a former member of Orchard Hills Country Club, and the Niles Reading Club, and a sustaining member of the Niles Service League. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels, with the Pawating Auxiliary at Lakeland Community Hospital, and at the Open Door Residences. Her greatest interest and passion was caring for her family.
On December 19, 1953 in Toledo she married Paul W. Rupp with whom she celebrated last year the fifty-ninth anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Paul Rupp and their children, Sharyn (& Jerry) Kaatz of Saint Joseph, Michigan, Gregory (& Debbie) Rupp, DDS of Shallotte, North Carolina, and Linda (& Jim) Ditto of Niles; and grandchildren Nicholas Rupp, Colton Ditto, and Micah Rupp.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Tolford.
The funeral service for Pat Rupp will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 22, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church in Niles with the Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence of the church officiating assisted by the Rev. Wayne Shearier of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Niles. Committal will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.
The family will receive relatives and friends at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Contributions in memory of Pat may be made to The Foundation of First Presbyterian Church, or to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
