Patricia DeLancy, age 85 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2016 with her son by her side at her home following an extended illness.

She was born on March 22, 1931 in Niles to Gerald Bradley and Pauline Elizabeth (Trusner) Wedel. She was graduated from Niles High School in 1948, and continued her education at Western Michigan University (Kalamazoo). She and her first husband owned and operated the family’s tavern, Dale’s Lounge in Eau Claire for several years. She was then employed in the offices of Garden City Fan in Niles for more than 20 years, retiring in 1982. She has lived in Niles all of her life.

Pat was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Niles and volunteered for more than twenty years with the Pawating Auxiliary at Lakeland Hospital in Niles. She enjoyed yardwork and caring for her gardens, weekly neighborhood luncheons, and her miniature schnauzers. Her greatest joy was her family, who also loved her.

She was first married, in 1949, to E. Dale Mills. Later, on December 1, 1973 in Niles she married John L. DeLancy, Jr. with whom she celebrated the thirty-seventh anniversary of their wedding prior to his death on June 6, 2011. She was also preceded in death by an 18 month old son, Michael Mills in 1951, another son, Richard Alan Mills in 2001, and a daughter, Debra Pucheu in 2011.

Surviving family includes her son, Douglas (& Wendi) Mills of Niles; daughter-in-law, Loretta Mills and son-in-law, Scott (& Leslie) Pucheu; step-sons Tim Brunkhart and Craig (& Cheryl) Brunkhart; grandchildren Aaron (& Jesse) Mills, Wendy Mills, twins Dustin (& Tammy) Mills and Derrik (& Jessica) Mills, and Sara (& Charles) Schmidt; step-grandchildren Sarah (& Mike) Dye, and Brandi (& Joey) Peralta; great-grandchildren Dane, Dalton, Jayce, Braydon, Charlie, Shea, Isa, and twins Brock and Conner; and Pat’s sister, Karen Sue Renfro of Hendersonville, Tennessee and brother, Jerry (& Marilyn) Wedel of Fenton, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Patricia DeLancy will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Cathi Huvaere of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating. Committal will follow at Mission Hills.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Contributions in memory of Pat may be made to the American Cancer Society.
