Pamela Sue McCorkle, age 68 years of South Bend, Indiana died on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at Loyola University Foster G. McGaw Hospital in Chicago, Illinois following a very brief illness.
She was born on July 25, 1946 in Niles, Michigan to John J. and Lorraine M. (Davis) Shafer. She was graduated from South Bend Central High School, earned certification as a Licensed Practical Nurse, and has lived in South Bend most of her life. She had a long career as an LPN at Healthwin in South Bend.
Pam enjoyed reading, especially fictional mysteries, and was reading the Clive Cussler collection recently. She also enjoyed completing crossword puzzles, and time in the kitchen cooking casseroles and baking. She loved animals, and had several pets.
Surviving family includes her mother, Lorraine M. Shafer of South Bend; brothers Bruce Allen (& Toni Marie) Shafer of Greenfield, Indiana and Scott Clay Shafer of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and many nieces & nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The funeral service for Pam McCorkle will be at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with the Rev. Ralph Unruh of Sawyer, Michigan officiating. Interment will be on Tuesday, privately, at the Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda, Michigan.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Pam may be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
