Norma Zavor

Norma Mae Zavor, age 91 years of Dean’s Hill Road in Berrien Center, Michigan died at 12:50 a.m. on Friday, February 15, 2013 at Lakeland Specialty Hospital in Berrien Center following an extended illness.

She was born on May 20, 1921 in Indiana. She lived on South Twelfth Street in Niles, Michigan for many years. She became ill in 1969, and has been a resident of the former Berrien General Hospital Mattix Center (now Lakeland Specialty Hospital) since 1970.

Prior to her illness, she had been married to Charles A. Zavor, and she had three daughters, Norma J. Purucker, Gloria J. Carpenter, and Shirley Dowell.

For the past forty-three years, Norma’s family has been her fellow residents, and the caring staff of Lakeland Specialty. She enjoyed the fellowship of carefully planned patient activities, and enjoyed remembering the television series “I Love Lucy”.

Services for Norma Zavor will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 in The Living Center at Lakeland Specialty Hospital with Chaplain Roy Jeffery officiating. The register book will be available for signing at The Living Center beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
