Nancy Kay Birdyshaw, age 63 years of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at her home following a brief illness.
She was born on March 25, 1954 in Niles to John Henry and Nellie Rose (Weed) Bair, Sr. She was graduated from Niles High School, and attended Michigan State University at East Lansing. She was retired from the United States Postal Service after a career of thirty years as a Letter Carrier at the Niles Post Office.
Nancy was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. She has participated in area golfing and bowling leagues, and has traveled throughout the United States, just recently returning from Alaska. She enjoyed reading a wide variety of subjects.
She was married on June 21, 1980 in her parents’ home in Niles to Winford Wayne Birdyshaw with whom she celebrated this year the thirty-seventh anniversary of their wedding.
Surviving family includes her husband, Wayne and his daughter, Angelina Finnegan of Fishers, Indiana; grandson, Jack Ryan Finnegan; and Nancy’s brothers, John (& Cathy) Bair, Jr. and Michael (& Sandra) Bair, both of Niles, and several nieces and nephews.
The family of Nancy Birdyshaw will receive relatives and friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home in Niles, and will share some memories beginning at 5:00 p.m. Contributions in memory of Nancy may be made to the Christian Service Center, 322 Clay Street, Niles, MI 49120 to honor Nancy’s dedication to the Letter Carrier Annual Food Drive.
