Niles, Miriam Naomi Jackson,82 of Niles, died Friday, February 3, 2017 in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.
Miriam was born on November 25, 1934 in Michigan City, IN to Glenn and Pauline(Schultz) Gring. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Rev Glenn M. Gring Jr.
Miriam is survived by her husband of 46 years, David S. Jackson; her three children, Dava (Dick) Buell of Michigan City, IN., Michael (Sally) Jackson of Marcellus. MI, and Paula Jackson of Buchanan, MI.; grandchildren, Adam (Stacey) Buell, Stephanie (Brian) Tarpo, Matt (Amanda) Buell, Mark Buell, Paul (Raquel Yennior) Vandenburg, Elaine (Michael) Rowland, David Jackson, Kevin (Nicole) Jackson, Shelby Jackson and 18 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Phyllis Zawisza, a brother David Gring, a very close cousin, Bonnie Ramsey and many nieces and nephews who proudly called her Aunt Mim.
Miriam retired from Clark Equipment. She had been active in a Quilting Club, Friday Book Club, Four Flags Garden Club, Niles Music Club and Niles Rug Hookers Guild, as well as sewing for all of her family. Miriam enjoyed her monthly lunch with her high school classmates. Miriam proudly made quilts for everyone in her family as well as making and donating quilts to the Ronald Mc Donald House. She was a very devote Christian and loved and cherished her German heritage.
Visitation for Miriam will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Mission Hills Cemetery.
