Michael Pierce

Michael Ray Pierce, age 51 years of Niles, Michigan died at 2:25 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan following a brief illness.

He was born on December 30, 1966 in South Bend, Indiana to Albert J. and Barbara Ann (Hicks) Pierce.  He was graduated from South Bend Washington High School.  He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America labor union local #413 in South Bend, and specialized in wood flooring.  He has lived in Niles since 1993.

At home, Mike enjoyed repairing and improving cars.  He built a Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck into a street-legal drag racer.  He always had pet dogs, who provided comfort and companionship.

Surviving family includes his brother, Matt (& Vicky) Pierce of Niles; nephews Kyle and Connor Pierce; and a sister, Margaret Tavernier of Mishawaka, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Barbara Pierce.

The family of Michael Pierce will gather privately to honor his life and share some memories.  Arrangements were made at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles.
