Michael George Dougan, age 66 years of Mishawaka, Indiana and formerly of Niles, Michigan died at 7:22 p.m. Friday, November 14, 2014 at his home following an extended illness.
He was born on July 1, 1948 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Fredric B. and Elsie F. (Naish) Dougan. He was graduated from Brandywine High School, pursued a college degree, and has lived in this area all of his life. He enlisted in the United States Army, and after serving one tour of duty was honorably discharged as a Veteran of the Viet Nam Era. He was then employed by the U. S. Postal Service Mishawaka branch for more than twenty years.
Michael enjoyed fishing in the area, and had a great collection of recorded music reflecting his diverse tastes in music styles. He is remembered by his family for his great sense of humor, his love for his family, and his love for his dog, Stewie.
Surviving family includes his son, Arlan Dougan of Mishawaka; sister, Terry Dougan of Niles and brothers Dan Hause of Colorado and Lee Hause of Nebraska; many nieces and nephews; a great circle of family and friends, and Stewie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fredric Dougan and Elsie Allen; a brother, Ric Dougan, and Michaels twin brother, Frank Dougan.
Services for Michael Dougan will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles with Jennifer Fiero, Lay Speaker of Niles officiating. The service will conclude with the Veterans Flag Presentation and Taps by the United States Army Honor Guard. Interment will be private, at a later date, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs, Michigan.
