Michael Allen

Michael Scott Allen, age 63 years of Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly at 7:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at his home, of natural causes.

He was born on March 20, 1951 in Niles to Russell James and Isabella Wilda (Kettles) Allen. He was graduated from Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan and earned a double-major Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing. His entire career was in the Tulsa, Oklahoma offices of American Airlines/Sabre/EDS. After retirement, he returned to Niles in 2008.

Mike enjoyed traveling, both in the United States and internationally. He also studied all forms of aeronautics, and spent many hours with his father at the Experimental Aircraft Association chapter at Jerry Tyler Airport in Niles. At home, he could often be found caring for the wildlife and watching the birds.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Isabella Allen.

Surviving family include his brother, Geoffrey Todd Allen of Niles; and their dear friend, Kalia Sumner.

Mike’s family and friends will gather privately to honor his life.
