Mary Welch

Mary Catherine Welch, 91 of Niles, passed away on Monday, February 6, 2023 in Riveridge Health Care Center in Niles.

Mary was born on July 18, 1931 in Glenn, Michigan to the late Harold and Eva (Johnson) Thomas.

On September 27, 1949 in Berrien Center, she married Raymond Russell Welch who passed away. She is also preceded in death by her son, Raymond Welch.

Mary is survived by her children;  Timothy (Rebecca) Welch of Niles, Thomas (Susan) Welch of Niles, Catherine (Mark) Steven of Niles, Ronald Welch of Niles,  and her daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Welch of Niles, grandchildren; Becky Welch, Jennifer (Corey) Hack, Brian Welch, Jason Steven, Sara Grishaber, Brandon Steven, Christine Welch, Great Grandchildren; Cody Blevins, Tyler Blevins, Maxx Simpson, Alexx Simpson, Hannah Mervine, Parker Hack, Zack Grishaber, Rylee Grishaber, Cohen Steven, Colin Moriarty and Caitlin Moriarty.

Mary had worked at Simplicity Pattern for many years as a Key Punch Operator.

Mary was a long time and very active member of the Sumnerville Bible Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and was always available to help when needed. She also loved knitting and sewing.  She could often be found knitting something that she would give away. Mary was dedicated to her family. Her giving nature and kindness will be forever cherished in their hearts.

Visitation for Mary will be on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 12 noon to 2:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will begin at 2:00pm in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mission Hills.
