Mary Jean Knoll, 97, of Niles died peacefully March 4, 2025, in the comfort of her family home. Her life began November 10, 1927, in Niles, the third of four born to Tracy and Ruth Dickey. She married Robert A. Knoll, May 8, 1954, in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Niles.
Mary loved her community and was an active volunteer, serving as a supporter of the local history group, a long-time blood drive worker, fall rummage and craft sales and funeral lunches at her parish. Mary was admired for her unwavering commitment to her family, which she cherished throughout her life. She spent her life as a devoted homemaker, creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and dedication will forever be a source of strength for her family. Mary Jean Knoll will be fondly remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with all who knew her.
Mary will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Ann Knoll, and son, Andrew (Helen J.) Knoll; two grandchildren, Michele Elizabeth (Dr. Simon) Watson, Gerald A. (Sarah Elizabeth) Knoll; three great grandchildren, Miles P. Freisinger, Page B. Knoll, Evelyn C. Knoll; step great granddaughter, Rowan Watson and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Tracy and Ruth Dickey; her husband Robert; her daughter Barbara L. Knoll; her two sisters, Elaine Shipe and Eleanor Thayer and her brother John Dickey.
Family and friends will gather Friday March 14, 2025, in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a rosary being held at 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mark Catholic Parish Saturday March 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. 3 North 19 th Street Niles. Mary will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Mary be made to St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conception - Christian Service Center 322 Clay Street or St. Mark Catholic Church 3 North 19 th Street Niles, reflecting her spirit of generosity and care for the community she so cherished.
