Mary Ellis (Jackson) Hamrick, a loving and caring Southern Belle, 95, of Niles, MI, died Tuesday, May, 8, 2018. Mary was born March 26, 1923 in Summitville, TN to David and Florence (Mathews) Jackson. In 1944 Mary married her high school sweetheart, Earl “Keith” Hamrick, and they spent the next 70 years creating their legacy together. She worked as a school secretary in the Niles Public Schools before her retirement in 1985. Mary adored being a mother. Her biggest joy in life was when her entire family was together. Her hobbies included gardening, ceramics, and being in a Hummel Club. Above all Mary was most proud of her family.
Mary is survived by her children, Terry (Diana) Hamrick of Indianapolis, IN, Ron (Alida) Hamrick of Haymarket, VA, and Randy (Beverly Long) Hamrick of Charlotte, MI; grandchildren, Jeffery (Anna) Hamrick of Simpsonville, SC, Abby Goldsmith of Clinton Township, MI, Brandon (Natisha) Hamrick of Haymarket, VA, Ashley Hamrick of Manassas, VA, David (Jennifer) Hamrick of Lexington, SC, Morgan (Brian) Doane of Tampa, FL; great-grandchildren, Ian, Sean, Zachary, Trenton, Annalise and Emmelyn; and brother, David Jackson. Mary is predeceased by her husband, Keith; brother, Frank Jackson; and her parents.
Friends are encouraged to support Mary’s family at her celebration of life, which will be held, Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 12:00 Noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Niles, MI with Rev. Fran Lane-Lawrence officiating. The family is in the care of Pray Funeral Home, Charlotte and Halbritter Wickens Funeral Services, in Niles.
