Mary Joyce Mark Anseth, age 75 years, former long-time resident of Niles, Michigan died at 1:22 p.m. on her seventy-fifth birthday, Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Rose de Lima Campus in Henderson, Nevada of Kindred Hospital – Las Vegas at Saint Rose Dominican Hospitals following an extended illness.

She was born on July 28, 1940 in Niles to Herbert and Marie (Smiedendorf) Sands. She was graduated from Niles High School, and was first employed as a nurse’s aide at the former Unity Hospital in Buchanan, Michigan. She was later employed by the Niles Community Schools as a bus driver for many years. She has lived in Henderson since 2002.

Mary was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles. She enjoyed flower gardening, and camping with her family – often in the Dakotas. Her greatest interest was her family.

On February 28, 1960 she married Peter E. Mark, Jr. who preceded her in death on April 9, 1970. In November of 1972 she married Gayln E. Anseth, who preceded her in death on April 20, 1976.

Surviving family includes her children, Douglas (& Katie) Mark of Fargo, North Dakota, Stacey Mark of Henderson, Wayne (& Kim) Mark of Chesapeake, Virginia, Melissa (& Robert) Jacks of Henderson, and Matthew (& Jennifer) Anseth of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren, Douglas Mark, William Mark, Peter Mark, Mary Catherine Mark, Ronald Mark, Ashlynn Anseth, and Sophia Anseth; and Mary’s siblings, Caroline Flannigan of Buchanan, Judith (& Leon) Mitchell of Niles, Joan Goble of Tucson, Arizona, and Herbert Sands; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mary Mark Anseth will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Niles with the Rev. Carl Bassett of the church officiating. Committal will follow at Silverbrook Cemetery in Niles.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
