Margaret Hoese

Margaret Ellen Hoese, 85 of Niles, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2023 in Memorial Hospital in South Bend.

Margaret was born on October 27, 1937 in Eau Claire to the late Harold and Eva (Johnson) Thomas.

On October 18, 1958 she married William S. Hoese who preceded her in death.  Margaret is also preceded in death by her siblings; Gerald Thomas, David Thomas, Major Dean Thomas, Bessie Barrett, Fred Thomas, Mary Welch and Scharlotte Beecher, Clarence Thomas, Dorothy Kiggins, Joyce Andrews and her son, William Hoese, Jr.

Margaret is survived by her children; Elizabeth (Timothy) Thompson of Orlando, Fl and Holly (Rex) Pomranka of Niles, granddaughters; Paige, Meg and Emma Pomranka. She is also survived by her sisters, Eva Hunt, Mary Dannis, Elaine (Norm) Shefsick and her brother, Frank (Dorothy ‘Dobbie’) Hoese and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret worked at Old Kent Bank in the Operations Center for over 20 years. She was a long time member of the Niles Booster’s Club. Margaret was an avid supporter of Niles and Brandywine Sports. She was well known for her amazing cooking and baking. Margaret won many awards over the years for her cooking and her amazing Apple Pie.  While she was amazing and talented at so many things, she was most proud of her family. Margaret loved them deeply. Being able to be present in her granddaughter’s lives was important to her. Her love and presence will be forever cherished

Visitation for Margaret will be on Monday, February 20, 2023 from 12 noon until 2:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. in Niles. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens.
