L. Wayne Blough

Wayne Blough, 81 of Edwardsburg passed away at his home after an extended illness.

Wayne was born on July, 12, 1936 in Alaska, MI to the late LaVern and Anna (LaLone) Blough. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Jim and his sister Wilhelmina Price.

On June, 21, 1955 in New Paris, IN he married Elizabeth. Together they celebrated 62 years of marriage.

Wayne is survived by his wife Elizabeth and their children, Susan (Devon) Mikel of Edwardsburg, Leanne (Pat) Fruth of Carey, OH, David (Judy) Blough of Elkhart, Beth (Scott) Burger of Niles, Jonathan (Laura) Blough of Edwardsburg, Wayne (Kim) Blough of Puyallup, WA and Brenda Blough of Newark, OH. Wayne was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Loretta Koontz of South Bend, brothers Andrew Blough of Hebron, In and Michael Blough of Decatur, IN.

Wayne honorably served in the U.S. Navy. Wayne worked at Bock Industries in Elkhart, Paul’s Mobile Home in Goshen and Miller Structure in Elkhart. He would work his way up at each job, starting in the shop, to Draftsman and then Engineer. His desire was to provide for his family so his wife would not have to work outside the home. Wayne worked as many as 3 jobs at one time including selling Fuller Brush and Tupperware. He went on to work with Elizabeth at Wee Kare Day Care which they co-owned.

Wayne was a member of Coulter’s Chapel Church of God. He was an amazing artist who was proficient in oil painting and watercolors, woodworker, enjoyed cooking, and fishing. Never afraid of a challenge, Wayne once complained about the quality of Umpiring at Little League baseball games. He not only became an umpire for his children’s games but, he went to Williamsport Little League umpire school then also went on to umpire for men’s fast pitch softball.

Visitation for Wayne will be on Saturday, October 21, 2017 from Noon to 2:00 pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Adamsville Cemetery.
