Loretta Faye Ketchum, age 60 years of Niles died on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at her home unexpectedly, but following an extended illness. She was born October 6, 1953 in Corona, California to Dennis & Genevieve (Wiesner) Batchelor, who survive. On August 12, 1970 she married Jim Ketchum, who also survives along with children Jimmie Dean Ketchum, Jr. and Ronette Marie Ketchum, both of Niles, and Michael Ray Williams, Jr. of Camp Pendleton, California, 2 grandchildren, Lacey McGowen and Chaz McGowen, both of Niles and great-granddaughter Emerlin Bailey. She is also survived by her brother, John Batchelor and a sister, Reba Olsen, all of Niles.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Dennis Batchelor, Jr., who died September 24, 2007.
Loretta was the former owner of the Buckboard Bar in Buchanan. She loved to be outside and was an avid collector of rocks and Indian beads. She loved spending time with her family and had a kind heart; she would help anybody in need. She enjoyed bird watching and admiring her flowers.
A Memorial Service for Loretta Faye Ketchum will be held at 6:00p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2013 at First Church of Christ-Christian in Niles with with Pastor David Szymczak of First Church of Christ-Christian officiating.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 5:00p.m. until the time of services at the church.
Loretta’s family would like to thank Dr. See and staff for their continued care throughout the duration of her illness, as she fought her courageous battle.
Donations in memory of Loretta may be made to either the American Cancer Society or the American Lung Association.
