Linda Ann Yazel
March 2, 1949 – December 15, 2021
Linda Ann Yazel (Red Bird) 72, loving Mother, Grandmother and proud member of Pokégnek Bodéwadmik, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
Linda was born in South Bend, IN to the late Daniel and Kathleen Topash.
Linda worked at the University of Michigan as an Accountant. She later worked at and retired from the University of Notre Dame Book Store.
Proud of her heritage, Linda was a Master Bead Artist for the Pokagon Band of Potawami. She would endure almost unbearable arthritis pain in her hands to complete one of her bead projects.
Linda was well known for her sharp wit and sharper tongue. If you ever traveled with her, you knew that Linda would only allow herself to be gone for three days and no longer.
Linda was married to Grover Yazel. Their enduring love allowed them 47 years together. Sadly, Grover passed away on June 9, 2020.
She loved her family, those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jason Yazel and Vincent (Melissa) Yazel of Buchanan, Grandchildren; Shevin Yazel, Cheyanne Yazel, Bradley Yazel and Haley Jones, Great Grandson, Braxton Yazel and one on the way.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Grover, brother, Joseph Topash and her sisters, Gail White, Patty Topash and Greta Pollock.
A combined Memorial service for Linda and Greta will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at 1:00pm in Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home. Family and friends may visit with the family from 12noon to 1:00pm at Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles.
