Niles, Michigan

Linda Lee Briney, age 69 years of Niles, Michigan; wife, mother, and grandmother died peacefully at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 with her husband at her bedside at their home following an extended illness. Her family is grateful for the kind and compassionate care provided by the staff of Caring Circle Hospice.

She was born on December 8, 1955 in Benton Harbor, Michigan to Oaka and Margaret (Weatherington) Malloy, and attended Eau Claire (Michigan) Public Schools. She continued her education with some classes at the University of Notre Dame. She was employed for many years by an eavestrough contractor, scheduling appointments and keeping the books, but was actively involved in sales, both telephone calls and walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors for face-to-face contacts. She became quite proficient at identifying sizes, shapes, and materials of eavestroughs and downspouts, and could help a homeowner understand their needs. She later served as a private duty home healthcare aide.

On June 30, 2007 in her sister-in-law’s backyard, she married Master Sergeant Leslie Grant Briney, U.S. Air Force, Retired with whom she celebrated the seventeenth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes her husband, Leslie “Corky” Briney and her children, Allan Linsley of Buchanan, Michigan, Gary Allan Linsley of Niles, Shane Linsley of Niles, and Brittany Linsley of South Bend, Indiana; eleven grandchildren; Linda’s sister, Margaret Glowanky of Benton Harbor; Leslie’s children, Roberta Lynn Bartlett, Denise Renée Elder, and Leslie Clifford Briney; and Leslie’s sister, Janice Corredo.

The family and friends of Linda Briney will gather at her graveside in Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor to share memories and honor her life with a Committal Service. Linda completed her prearrangements at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles, who is now fulfilling her requests. Online memories and condolences may be left at:

Linda loved life, and enjoyed meeting strangers who might need help maintaining their house, and who became clients and friends. She was always ready to visit with anyone, and more recently appreciated and enjoyed everyone who came to visit her. Above all, she loved her family, especially Leslie.
