Lawrence Robert Kline, age 50 years formerly of Buchanan, Michigan; brother, uncle, and fan of Michigan Football and country music died peacefully Thursday morning, March 16, 2023 at his home in Niles, Michigan following an extended illness.
He was born on April 15, 1972 in South Bend, Indiana to Fredrick T. and Roxie A. (Good) Kline and was graduated from Buchanan High School. He was employed by the Buchanan Community Schools in custodial services, still serving at Ottawa Elementary School just days before his death. He lived in Buchanan most of his life, recently moving to Niles to be closer to his brother.
Larry was a great fan of the University of Michigan Football team, and especially enjoyed gathering with family to watch the games on television. He was also a fan of the Detroit Red Wings hockey team. When the television was off, then country music was on – all the time, and Larry had attended several live concerts in-person including surviving the famous outdoor stadium concert during a rain, snow, and wind storm at the University of Notre Dame by the American singer and songwriter, Mr. Garth Brooks.
And if athletic events and live concerts weren’t exciting enough, Larry loved to ride on rollercoasters, and never missed an opportunity to do so.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Kline, Sr. who had been a coach and referee in Buchanan; and by his mother, Roxie Kline who had been a Buchanan School Bus driver, and a representative for area schools employees’ unions.
Surviving family includes his brother, Frederick (& Stacey) Kline of Niles, and their sister, Brandy (& Dennis) Lowrance of Buchanan; nieces and nephews, Zachary (& Britani) Kline, Cody (& Meghan) Kline, Jake (& tessa Hawkins) LaLone, Kayla Lowrance, and Dakota Lowrance; and by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family of Larry Kline will gather privately at his graveside in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Buchanan to share memories and honor his life. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date, and announced on this webpage. Arrangements were completed at the Halbritter-Wickens Funeral Home, 615 East Main Street in Niles. Fifty years of life feels too short, but Larry used those years well, enjoying – repeatedly - some of the more exciting events and activities that life offers. But he also loved the people in his life, including the students and staff who he served at school, and above all, his family.
