Kevin Jonn Lusk, age 44 years of Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly at 3:22 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, 2019 in Mishawaka, Indiana.
He was born on November 20, 1974 in Niles, Michigan to Harry and Teresa (Wesel) Lusk. He was graduated from Mishawaka High School, and completed trade schools to earn his journeyman’s card in carpentry. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America Union Local 413 in South Bend, Indiana and was employed by several area contractors. He was proud of his work at the University of Notre Dame, especially of the many doors that he hung which are used many times every day. He had more recently worked on the construction of the Pokagon Band of the Potawatomi Language & Cultural Arts Center, and at the Four Winds Casino. He also assisted with the family business, Szucs Excavating and Concrete Recycling in Niles.
Kevin enjoyed riding his motorcycles, and participated in many charitable motorcycle runs including the annual Niles Burn Run. He also enjoyed cars, especially his dream car: the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro RSS, and enjoyed firearm sports at his target range. He is fondly remembered for his firebuilding skills, often rendered for family gatherings that were enhanced by the best marshmallow roasting fires.
On April 20, 2018 in South Bend he married the former Juliann (Erlenbach) Szucs who survives. Also surviving are his parents, Teresa (& Gary “Zep”) Rzepka of South Bend and Harry Lusk of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandmother, Adele Lusk of South Bend, Indiana; Kevin’s brother, Keith Lusk, Sr. of South Bend and sister, Autumn (& Jason) Geans of Elkhart, Indiana; half-brothers, Guy and Grant Lusk, both of Indianapolis; nieces Summer Lusk, Spring Geans, Season Geans, and Sabrina Lusk, and nephew Keith Lusk, Jr.; and by Juli’s children Joseph (& Tiffany) Lawrence and Chandel (& Patrick) VanLaere; grandchildren Luna and Benjamin; Juli’s mother, Carol Erlenbach and brother, William (& Stacey) Erlenbach and their children Alicia and Connor.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Harlen Lusk, Sylvia Babcock, and Gordon Wesel, and an uncle, Gordon “Butch” Wesel.
The family of Kevin Lusk will host a celebration of his life on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at his home on U.S.12 in Niles.
