Katherine "Kathie" Alice Clemens, age 85, of Niles, Michigan, died on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Buchanan Meadows Living Center following a brief illness. She was born March 26, 1927, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Patrick & Alice (Cullen) Kelleher.

Kathie was a 1944 graduate of Brighton High School in Boston and a 1948 graduate of the Boston City Hospital Nursing School, where she earned her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was a United States Army veteran, serving with the Army Nurse Corps during the Korean War. Kathie and her husband founded and owned the family business Lumber Service Ltd. in Cassopolis. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. Kathie was a member of Orchard Hills Country Club, enjoyed golfing with her ladies group, and twice scored a hole-in-one. She and her husband traveled to and wintered in Gulf Shores, Alabama, and took many golf trips with friends.

On April 10, 1955, in Boston, Massachusetts, she married Glen Clemens, who preceded her in death on June 14, 2012. From their union survives three sons, Owen J. Clemens of Portland, Oregon, Stephen R. Clemens of Cassopolis, Michigan, and Mark G. (& Lisa) Clemens of Buchanan, Michigan; and 2 grandchildren, Cole Glen Clemens and Dawson Blaine Clemens; and sister, Virginia Callahan of Kennebunk, Maine. In addition to her husband, Glen, Kathie was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Feola.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Katherine A. Clemens will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Saint Mary Catholic Church, Niles, by the Rev. David Otto of the church. The family will receive relatives and friends one hour before services at the church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Niles.
