Berrien Springs – Joshua J. Scarlett, 37, passed away at 11:45am on Saturday, December 2, 2017 in Lakeland Medical Center in St. Joseph MI, surrounded by his family.

Josh was born July 3, 1980 in Mishawaka, IN to Joella Scarlett-Martin and James Sandford Scarlett.  He was the first of 3 children in the family, that eventually included sister, Jolene and brother, Jordon.

Josh graduated from Berrien Springs High School in 1998 and Michigan State University 2003. He had a love of the Chicago Cubs, skiing, traveling, nature, helping anyone in need and was a passionate animal rights lover and rescuer.

Josh is survived by his parents, Joella and Wally Martin, Berrien Springs MI and Jim and Dennice Scarlett, Dowagiac, MI. Siblings, Jolene June (Stephanie), Jordon Jon, Jon Martin (Andi), Stephanie Marie Martin (Paul) Jenny Bishop, Michael Kemp, Jackie Kemp and Stephanie Kemp; grandparents, Emily Scarlett, Floyd Scarlett; Special Aunt E.T. (Uncle Jerry Harden), Aunt Min (Uncle David), Uncle Jim (Aunt Lucia), Aunt Gayle, and numerous step aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and beloved cats Percival and Boudicca.   Joshua was preceded in death by grandparents, Constance Tiffany and Merle Tiffany.

A special thank you to the ICU staff at Lakeland Regional Medical Center for their amazing care.

Visitation will be 2:00-4:30 on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in HALBRITTER WICKENS FUNERAL HOME, 615 E. Main Street, Niles. Funeral Service will begin at 4:30pm in the Funeral Home on Wednesday.
