John Joseph Sobecki, 56 of Niles, passed away in his home on March 20, 2022.
John was born on April 16, 1965 in Niles to the late Eugene and Viola (Linback) Sobecki. He is also preceded in death by his mother in law, Patricia Teske along with his sister Antoinette Beaman.
On October 8, 1994 in Niles he married Wendy Disch who survives.
He is also survived by children; Brandon (Jennifer) Van Kirk of Granger, Stephanie (Miguel) De La Rosa of South Bend, Sarah Disch of South Bend, Joseph Van Kirk of Niles, grandchildren; Kayla, Hannah, Taegan, Elena, Braiden, Brooklyn, Camden, Desiree, Madison, Savanah and Melanie. He is also survived by his father-in-law Thomas Teske of Niles, his brother, James (Rose) Ballinger of Ft. Worth, TX, sister, Patricia Oppelt of South Bend, Jane Ballinger of Mishawaka, Viola (Rick) Lary of Niles, 9 nieces and nephews and 10 grand nieces and nephews.
John had been a Tree Trimmer and Jack of all Trades for as long as anyone can remember. He was a member of Mapleview Free Methodist Church in Niles. All who knew John, know of his life long passion for fishing. He treasured taking his grandson Braiden fishing. John also enjoyed playing pool, golfing and fantasy football. Above all, he loved his grandchildren. He was a proud Papa to them.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of John’s Life will be held on April 2, 2022 at 11:00 am at Mapleview Free Methodist Church 1831 Niles Buchanan Rd, Niles, MI 49120 .
Arrangements have been entrusted to Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home, 615 E. Main St. Niles, MI.
