Jeri Lynn Taylor, 78, of Niles, died February 8, 2025 in the comfort of her family’s presence. Her life began August 17, 1946 in Niles the first of six children born to Nathaniel and Doris Jaynes.
Jeri was a graduate of Niles High School. She worked forty plus years at Steel Warehouse in South Bend retiring in 2013. Jeri spent some time volunteering at Fernwood Botanical Gardens. She found great joy in taking road trips and travel. She was an avid reader, preferring mysteries and the classics. Jeri could often be found in her garden or out on a daily walk around the neighborhood, where she memorized all the names of the dogs. Jeri was a member of a sewing group that made quilts for veterans and women’s shelters. She enjoyed dining out with her posse’ and going to movies. Jeri had an eclectic taste in movies.
Jeri will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by one son, Christopher (SueAnn) Swartz of South Bend; two grandchildren, Joshua (Jami) Swartz of Colorado Springs Colorado, Alicia (Joe) Swartz; one great grandson, Jamison Swartz; three sisters, Jackie Stock of Niles, Cindy Jaynes of South Bend, Carole Jaynes of South Bend; sister-in-law, MaryAnn Jaynes; bonus sister, Judith (Allen) Ziol of Chandler Arizona; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Jayne Jaynes and brother James Jaynes.
The family will observe a private remembrance.
The family prefers in lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Jeri be made to Fernwood Botanical Gardens 13988 Rangeline Road Niles.
