Jeanette Marie Schroeder, age 84 years of Niles, Michigan died at 7:15 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Hospice House in Roseland, Indiana following an extended illness.
She was born on June 7, 1928 in Decatur, Michigan to Emerson and Velma (Hodge) Calahan. She was graduated from Decatur High School, and earned a bachelors degree in business from Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. She has lived in Niles since 2002, coming from Mattawan, Michigan.
Jeanette was a legal secretary for the Friend of the Court in Van Buren County, Michigan for many years, retiring in 2002. She enjoyed spending summers camping with her husband, and she loved her dog.
On September 3, 1965 in Kalamazoo she married Robert Schroeder, who preceded her in death on January 25, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bill Blue on March 22, 2012.
Surviving family includes her daughter, Dixie Blue of Niles; grandsons Steven (& Kelly) Ray and Joe (& Taryn) Ray, both of Niles; grandchildren Abby Ray and Luke Ray; and her canine companion, Dolly.
The family of Doris Casperson will be gathering privately for services on Wednesday at the graveside at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell, Michigan with memories shared by a friend of the family. Contributions in memory of Jeanette may be made to the Center for Hospice Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, Indiana 46637. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
