Jean Margaret Garrison, age 87 years of Niles, Michigan died on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 3:30 a.m. following an extended illness, with her family by her side.
Jean was born to Harvey W. and Virginia May Huffman in Sumner, Iowa on January 12, 1926. She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, Robert W. Brooks.
She is survived by her sister, Lola (Al) Risser of Columbus, Ohio, children, Stephanie (Don) Stone of Niles, Claudia (Tim) Hillary of Point Arena, California, and Joel Brooks of Niles; grandchildren, Shelly (Mike) Hessey, Steve (Angelecque) Thornton, Cathy Hillary, Karen Hillary, Brian Hillary, Matt Brooks, and Jason Brooks; eight great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Jean volunteered with Area Aging Agency at Brentwood Assisted Living in Niles. She enjoyed painting, reading, cooking, and gardening. She also enjoyed spending time with her dogs. No few words can summarize the lady that Jean was, and she will be greatly missed.
Per Jean’s request, cremation will take place.
Contributions in memory of Jean may be made to the Niles District Library, or to the Berrien County Animal Shelter.
Arrangements have been made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
