Jean M. Evans, age 87 formerly of South Bend, Indiana died at 11:38 a.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at her home in Decatur, Michigan following a brief illness.
She was born on February 10, 1928 in Jefferson Township of Cass County, Indiana to George W. and Mabel (Wines) Lusher. She was graduated from South Bend Riley High School, and lived in South Bend most of her life. She was employed for many years in the South Bend offices of the former Tucker Freight Lines.
Jean is well remembered for her wonderful flower gardens at home, but her greatest interest and joy was her family.
Surviving family includes her children, Robin (& John) Young of Decatur, Michigan, Scott (& Ana) Evans of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Teri Delacruz of Bolingbrook, Illinois; grandchildren, Matthew Evans, Luke (& Abigail) Evans, Stephanie Delacruz, and Eric Delacruz; and Jeans sister, Beverly (& Oscar) Coryn, Jr. of Granger, Indiana; and a nephew, Randy Coryn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by a brother, Robert Lusher.
The family of Jean Evans will be gathering privately on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at The Graveside in Riverview Cemetery, South Bend for services with the Rev. Reed Anderstrom of Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend officiating.
Contributions in memory of Jean Evans may be made to Hospice at Home, 4015 Health Park Lane, Saint Joseph, Michigan 49085. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
