Biography

Jean Mary Scott Dennstaedt, age 84 years of Buchanan, Michigan died at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the Chalet of Niles (formerly Silverbrook Manor) in Niles, Michigan following an extended illness.

She was born on October 7, 1930 in Perth, Scotland to Peter Mc. and Alexandrina H. (Robertson) Norrie. She completed schooling in Scotland, and served in the British Royal Navy. She was first married in Perth on September 17, 1949 to William C. Dennstaedt who died on April 20, 1985 after thirty-five years of marriage. She came to the United States in 1949 and was employed for many years in the office of Mid-West Metal Products in Niles.
Jean was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Niles. She was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the former Sylvia Chapter #74, Order of the Eastern Star, and a member of the Amaranth Court #1 of South Bend, Indiana. She enjoyed travelling throughout the area, and had returned to Scotland three times.

On July 9, 1987 in Scotland she married Earl A. Green with whom she celebrated this year the twenty-eighth anniversary of their wedding.

Surviving family includes her husband, Earl Green; a son, Robert B. Dennstaedt of Mishawaka, Indiana and daughter, Evelyn M. Fenton of Niles; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; Jean’s brother, Peter D. Norris, M.D. of Australia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to the death of her first husband, Jean was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Mary Greene on February 7, 1990; and Jean’s sister, Alexina Ritche who died in 2013.

The family of Jean Mary Scott Dennstaedt will gather privately. Jean had arranged many years ago to assist medical science through anatomical donation, and her wish has been fulfilled. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
