Jason Daniel Martin, age 31 years of Niles, Michigan died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in Benton Harbor, Michigan.
He was born on March 11, 1985 in South Bend, Indiana to Steve Daniel and Lauren Sue (Baker) Martin. He was graduated from Brandywine High School in Niles and had attended Southwestern Michigan College. He had been employed in the construction trades on several area projects.
Jason was a member of the Community Evangelical Free Church in Niles, and had also been attending the Federated Covenant Church in Dowagiac, Michigan. He enjoyed music, and was a proficient guitarist. He was also a gifted visual artist, working in acrylic, ink, and etching.
Surviving family includes his parents, Steve and Sue Martin of Niles; brothers Nathan Martin of Granger, Indiana and Nicolas Martin of Niles; a grandmother, Lorene Cummings of Watervliet, Michigan; and aunts Brenda Wieresena and Vickie (& Jonathan) Liedtke, both of Coloma, Michigan and Patty (& Charlie) Rice of Stevensville, Michigan, and an uncle, Johnny Ray Baker of Berrien Springs, Michigan.
Services for Jason Martin will be at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in the Pavilion of the Community Evangelical Church with Pastor Matt Hickok of CEFC and Pastor Chad Benkert of the Federated Covenant Church officiating. Committal services will be private at the Rose Hill Cemetery in Berrien Springs.
Contributions in memory of Jason may be made to The Salvation Army of Niles. Arrangements were made at the Halbritter Funeral Home in Niles.
