Ivan Ivory Childs, age 57 years of Watervliet, Michigan and formerly of Niles, Michigan died peacefully at 10:57 a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Lakeland Medical Center in Saint Joseph, Michigan following a brief illness.
He was born on September 28, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan to Johnny Bacon and Joan Childs. As a child in a home with several siblings, he was always a part of the fun. Later, he moved to Niles, and in 2000 he moved to Watervliet where he lived the rest of his life.
In Watervliet, Ivan was a member of a close community of “adopted” brothers who shared many common activities. That community also includes many caregivers who became a part of his supporting family.
Additionally, Ivory is survived by his mother, Joan McClinton of Benton Harbor, Michigan; and by his siblings, Geno Childs of Benton Harbor, Karen Hightower of California, Joan Jackson of Benton Harbor, Gloria McClinton of Benton Harbor, and James McClinton of Indianapolis, Indiana; ten nieces and nephews.
The memorial service for Ivan Ivory Childs will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at his home, with Pastor Robert Cheek of New Hope Community Church in Watervliet officiating
