Iden Boyd Wilken, 74 formally of Niles, passed away at his home in Mishawaka on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.
Iden was born in Niles on March 8, 1947 to the late Almond and Beulah Wilken.
He is preceeded in death by his parents, his sisters, Diana Wilken-Chorba and Myrna Wilken, as well as his brothers, Vince and Roger Wilken.
Iden is survived by his children; Dylan Wilken of Elkhart, Wyatt Wilken of Ft. Wayne, IN and Melissa (Philip) Wilken . Grandchildren; Kalsie, Kaylee, Breya Wilken and Leia as well as several great grandchildren.
Iden was an adventure seeking person with a free spirit. Iden spent most of the 1960's backpacking across America and through Europe. Attending the original Woodstock, the launch of Apollo 11, and the 68 Olympics. Iden enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, sailing, and skydiving. He also was a desert racing enthusiast, competing in the Best of the Desert, A.D.R.A, and Whiplash series, with such races as Barstow to Vegas and Soynota to Rocky Point. Those who knew of Iden knew of his colorful past, his thirst for life, and that his life was one that books are written about. Iden loved his family, loved his friends and lived life to the fullest.
Private services have taken place for Iden.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Halbritter Wickens Funeral Home 615 E. Main St. Niles.
